The oldest Russian University Moscow State University was established in 1755. In 1755 the University had three faculties: Philosophy, Law and Medicine. Now there are 43 faculties. The total number of students currently exceeds 41,000. The number of international students is growing constantly. At present we host more then 4,000 from 80 countries.
The Faculty of Economics is one of the largest faculty of Moscow State University in terms of the number of students. The faculty was the first in Russia to completely switch to a multi-level system of training students. About 1,600 students study in the four-year bachelor's program, and about 600 students study in the master's program (two-year programs). There are 8 Dissertation Councils at the faculty for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor and Candidate of Sciences, more than 300 people study in postgraduate studies. More than 2,000 students study business education programs annually.
